6883 Policy – Closure of Facilities

Prior to closure of a school for instructional purposes, the board will consider the superintendent’s written summary analysis of the effects of the proposed school closure. Within the 90 days before its final decision on school closure, the board will hold a public hearing, at the site of the affected school, to receive public testimony on issues related to the proposed closure. Notice of the public hearing shall, at a minimum, be published once a week for two consecutive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation in the school’s area, and the second such published notice shall be no later than seven days before the public hearing.

This policy does not apply to emergency or unforeseen closures as provided in state law.
