Updated May 2024

Bellingham Public Schools offer limited summer programming. Some programs are open to specific student populations based on eligibility, often linked to specific needs and or funding sources.

Summer athletics and activities camps: Bellingham Public Schools and the City of Bellingham Parks and Recreation department are teaming up to offer a wide variety of fun youth camps and activities this summer: basketball, football, volleyball, soccer, running, baseball, lacrosse, wrestling, and strength & conditioning, plus speech & debate!

To register, visit cob.org/ezreg or call 360-778-7000. Learn more about these camps in the city’s Summer Playbook.

All second and third graders are invited to register by June 5 for our summer i-Ready program, which provides reading and math support for strengthening student outcomes. i-Ready online learning is a five-week program that runs Monday, July 1 through Friday, August 2. Because students are accustomed to using the i-Ready platform during the school year, during the summer they can continue learning through this familiar computer-based platform, with support of certificated teachers if needed.

Summer i-Ready students are issued a school laptop for home i-Ready learning and practice. Register your second- or third-grader here by June 5.

Some community partners have summer camp and child care opportunities available:

Grades 2 and 3: Summer reading and math support

Summer school courses are accelerated; students complete an 18-week class in a compressed six-week time frame. For this reason, although the coursework is completed online, students need to attend in person Monday through Thursday from June 24 to August 2, 2024 (no school Thursday, July 4) at Options High School. This ensures students have quick access to academic and/or technical help. For more information about high school summer school through Edgenuity, please see the summer 2024 registration form. Please note that the only class available to incoming ninth graders is Health. Summer school applications should be sent to the student’s home high school counselor for enrollment and signature. If you have additional questions, please contact your high school counselor or secondary summer school principal Meghan Dunham via email or at 360-220-0019.
