6114 Procedure – Gifts

Equipment and material which are donated to a school or are brought to the school for temporary use shall be reviewed in terms of suitability and durability and for any possible health or safety hazards. The school principal or program manager shall be responsible for reviewing all donations, and if the donation is found to be unsuitable shall inform the donor indicating reasons for rejection. If the donation is deemed suitable, the school principal or program manager shall聽be responsible for ensuring that a Donation Agreement Form has been completed for all donations valued at $5,000 or greater or for lesser amounts, if requested by donor. Donations valued at $5,000 or greater must be referred to the superintendent鈥檚 office and approved by the Board of Directors before acceptance is granted. If found to be acceptable, the principal or program manager will notify the donor and arrange for delivery/installation of the donation. All gifts shall become District property and shall be accepted without obligation relative to use and/or disposal.

Any gift presented to the district shall satisfy the following criteria:

A.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The purpose or use shall be consistent with philosophy and programs of the District;

B.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The district shall assume only a minimum financial obligation for installation,聽maintenance and operation;

C.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The equipment shall be free from health and/or safety hazards; and

D.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The equipment shall be free from a direct or implied commercial endorsement.
