Updated May 2025
Bellingham Public Schools offer limited summer programming. Some programs are open to specific student populations based on eligibility, often linked to specific needs and or funding sources.
Often, families will be contacted directly if their children qualify for a summer program.
Summer athletics and activities camps
Bellingham Public Schools and the City of Bellingham Parks and Recreation department team up each summer to offer a wide variety of fun youth camps and activities: baseball, basketball, football, running/cross country, soccer, volleyball and wrestling, plus robotics & STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math)! Summer camps have a registration fee and are fundraisers for our high school athletics and activities.
To register, visit or call 360-778-7000. Learn more about these camps in the city鈥檚 or our BPS flyer.
Grades 2 and 3: Summer reading and math support
All second and third graders are invited to register by May 30 for our summer i-Ready program, which provides reading and math support for strengthening student outcomes. i-Ready online learning is a seven-week program that runs Monday, June 16 through Friday, August 1. Because students are accustomed to using the i-Ready platform during the school year, during the summer they can continue learning through this familiar computer-based platform, with support of certificated teachers if needed.
Summer i-Ready students are issued a school laptop for home i-Ready learning and practice.
If you have additional questions, please contact Jenessa Kirk or Deb Hampton in the Department of Teaching and Learning,
Grades 9-11: High school credit retrieval through Edgenuity
Online Edgenuity credit retrieval classes, in person at Bellingham High School: Summer classes are available for students who need to retrieve credit after earning an NC in a class. Courses are online using the Edgenuity platform, and students attend in person at Bellingham High School from June 23 to July 31. These summer classes are available for BPS students who will be in grades 10-12 in fall 2025 (current grades 9-11)
Summer school courses are accelerated, meaning that students complete an 18-week class in a compressed six-week time frame. For this reason, although the coursework is completed online, students need to attend in person Monday through Thursday from June 23 to July 31, 2025 at Bellingham High School. In-person attendance ensures students have quick access to academic and/or technical help. For more information about courses available for high school summer credit retrieval, please see the summer 2025 registration form.聽 If you have additional questions, please contact your high school counselor or secondary summer school principal Meghan Dunham聽via email or at 360-220-0019.
Please note:
-
- Turn in summer school applications to the student’s home high school counselor for enrollment and signature.
- Students will turn in their school laptops at the end of the school year and have a new device issued for summer Edgenuity.
